Eligibility
Qualification
Any one of the following, held on or before the last date (15.12.2026):
- 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a government-recognised institute, or
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering, or
- AMIE Section (A & B), India.
If you hold an equivalent qualification, you must produce an equivalence certificate when asked. Qualifications other than those listed are rejected.

Only domiciles of the UT of J&K with a valid domicile certificate issued on or before 15.12.2026 can apply. Reserved category certificates must be valid on the cut-off date and in the prescribed format.

Selection process and exam pattern
- Selection is made on the basis of merit in the written/OMR examination only. There is no interview.
- Questions are objective (MCQ) and in English only.
- There is negative marking of 1/4 of the marks for each wrong answer.
- The syllabus will be notified separately on jkssb.nic.in. Until then, prepare core diploma subjects: thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, strength of materials, theory of machines, manufacturing, IC engines, refrigeration and engineering drawing, plus basic aptitude.
- Shortlisted candidates go through document verification with original certificates.

JE (Mechanical) is in Pay Level-6 with a pay range of Rs 35,400–1,12,400.
