Category Maximum age Born not before
Open Merit (OM) 40 years 01.01.1986

Physically challenged 42 years 01.01.1984

No candidate should be born after 01.01.2008. Casual workers claiming the extra weightage get 5 more years, and ex-servicemen may deduct their service period as per rules. Use our age calculator with 1 January 2026 as the date to be sure.

Domicile and certificates

You must be a domicile of the UT of J&K with a valid domicile certificate issued on or before 3 November 2026. Reserved category certificates must be valid on the cut-off date and uploaded with the form. JKSSB says it will not give another chance to upload documents later.

Category Fee
General / others Rs 600
SC, ST-1, ST-2, EWS, PwBD Rs 500

Pay online only (net banking, debit or credit card). The fee is not refundable.

Selection process: how the 100 marks work

There is an objective OMR/written test in English with 1/4 negative marking. The rest of the marks are additional points, which can decide the final merit in a big way:

Criteria UT cadre Divisional cadre District cadre
Written test 85 80 75
Home division / home district – 5 10
No family member in government service/PSU 5 5 5
Widows, divorced, judicially separated women, orphan girls 5 5 5
Casual worker for 5+ years (wage proof) 5 5 5

“Family” here means only spouse, brother, sister and parents. To claim any weightage you need the prescribed certificate (for example from the Tehsildar). Without it, you are considered without the extra marks.

Salary

Both posts carry Pay Level SL1 (Rs 14,800–47,100). You also get dearness allowance and other admissible allowances under J&K government rules, so the gross is higher than basic. The exact in-hand varies with the DA rate and deductions; our salary calculator can give a rough monthly figure.
