About the role
Coinbase needs a Staff Software Engineer for its Customer Administration Engineering team. The team owns Control Center, the secure internal platform used by about 7,000 specialists in support, compliance, legal and risk, which is being turned into a platform that AI agents can also use safely.
What you will do
- Design core platform features such as MCP tool registries, AI orchestration and access automation
- Build guardrails, human-in-the-loop flows and evaluation tools for AI agents handling sensitive operations
- Write technical designs, lead reviews and mentor engineers
- Own reliability, monitoring and incident response for critical backend services
- Work with other engineering and security teams on shared platform pieces
Who can apply
- 8+ years building large distributed systems, APIs (gRPC, MCP, GraphQL) and microservices
- Go as a main backend language, with some Python
- Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Kafka and Redis
- Experience with agentic AI systems such as MCP servers, RAG or LLM orchestration
