Question: Tell me about a time you handled a difficult customer.

Situation: At my call centre job, a customer was angry because his refund was delayed for three weeks.

Task: I had to calm him down and get the refund processed.

Action: I listened without interrupting, apologised, checked the system and found a wrong bank detail. I corrected it with him on the call and escalated it to the finance team.

Result: The refund was credited in two days, and he gave a 5-star rating in the feedback survey.
